WEEKLY OBJECTIVES: STUDENTS WILL EXPERIENCE HANDS ON EXPERIENCES WITH DNA AND PROTEINS SYNTHESIS. THEY WILL LEARN THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE DNA CODE AND THE ACTUAL GENETIC TRAITS THAT THEY RECEIVE FROM THEIR PARENTS AND GRANDPARENTS.

TUESDAY - Lab: Extraction of DNA from strawberries
WEDNESDAY - Design an organism activity using the DNA code to predict the traits that imaginary creatures will have. They will be using transcription and translation in this activity.
THURSDAY - Film "GATTACA" as a lead in to the Genetics Unit; students will answer questions from a study guide as they watch the film.
FRIDAY - Completion of the film "GATTACA". Students will have analysis essay questions to complete as homework.
